the black hole in my back yard

I set out a solargraph camera at summer solstice but had to terminate it yesterday afternoon after noticing that a raven had pecked out the pinhole and made the hole way too big!  I’m not sure why ravens and crows are so intrigued by the little canisters, but this is the 5th one they have pecked at.

I kind of like this collaboration though.

I adopted another orphan…..

so there it was, sitting in the corner of a local thrift store, looking dejected and unloved- kind of like a pound puppy.

It was marked $19.00- as is.  It was covered in dust, was missing its mount and had a few minor dings and dents, but nothing too serious, so I bought it and brought it home.

And after taking the secondary and  primary mirror (4.5 inches)  out for a proper cleaning, I stuck the tube assembly in the shower.  I think I actually heard a sigh of relief!

I’ll need to make some sort of mount for this little guy, so stay tuned for updates.
